By the dawn's early light. The morning after the snowstorm the night before.

What a beautiful sight and a wonderful surprise from baby Ruff. We all went out this morning just as the Sun was coming up and the boys immediately began to explore.

And a very big surprise from my baby Ruff. Sometimes I am amazed at how much they listen to me and pay attention and actually understand what I am saying to them. After taking the above photo I said to Ruff that I had to out to the street and pick up the newspaper. I always talk to him like I was having a regular conversation so I happened to mention that this used to be Mamma Mocha's job when she was alive and she was my papergirl and to my complete surprise Ruff trotted out to the end of the driveway and picked up the newspaper and carried it back to me without me even asking him to do it. When he did this I told him he could go to work every day and be my paperboy and I saw the glimmer of excitement in his eyes just like Mocha use to have when I asked her to go to work.

And then the boys went out to the pool area and explored their new surroundings again.

Later on today we will take a walk down to the back.

  1. That is such a sweet story.. sweet boy Ruff! I have conversations with my baby girl too and it still amazes me when she does understand what I'm saying and does things quietly without having to 'instruct' her like we usually do. But it usually is 'selective' hearing like children! ha ha!

    1. It must definitely be selective hearing. As I wrote I would see if he would repeat the work the next day and he did not. The first time Ruff was 50 ft away from the newspaper so he hadn't even seen it when I reminded him of how Mocha did her work picking it up and carrying it in. Then Ruff trotted out to the end of the driveway, found the paper and picked it up. The second day he just looked at me like he didn't understand English. I even walked him over to the paper and showed it to him and he still wouldn't pick it up.

  2. What lovely pictures! And how clever is Ruff! It looks really beautiful where you are right now. We might be getting snow in the UK soon too. Fingers crossed!
