The official word on our old Rottweiler, Axl.

The wonderful lady in Ohio, Carey, who was Axl's first mom sent me an email a few weeks ago that finally cleared up the confusion about when Axl was born. When we adopted him 7 years ago the rescue group gave me some papers from the Veterinarian that mentioned Axl was born on September 9, 2001. That turned out to be either someone's guess or just some sloppy paperwork. But Carey did some research on the AKC web site and came up with his registration number. With that I ordered an official certificate that showed his Certified Pedigree, and his true date of birth.

So we were only about a month off when we had his birthday parties but it doesn't matter now.

On October 28, 2016 old man Axl, affectionately called Grandpa Axl, officially named Armani's Cold November Rain will be 15 years old.
In case you're interested November Rain is a song written by Axl Rose from the rock group Guns 'N Roses. Thank you Carey.

  1. I really enjoyed looking at my Rottie's pedigree. It's amazing how many of Zeke's relatives we were able to look up online and find videos and pictures of.

    Love Axl's registered name

    1. I don't think I'd be revealing too much about Axl's first mom if I told you she was a big fan of Axl Rose.

    1. Ani, I am sure there are plenty of good books on how to raise a Rottweiler puppy but I am particularly partial to YOUR ROTTWEILERS LIFE written by Kim Dearth in 1999 because she wrote about some of my first Rottweilers. The book is still listed on Amazon.com and if you go there read my review in the comments. The only tip I can give you is to fill your puppy's life with love and kindness and respect. He will give it back to you ten fold in the years to come. And don't forget to socialize him by taking him places with you to meet people.

  4. Hey there Nelson... OOOh wow so Grandpa is almost exactly 13 years older than Duke... How cool is that... I would seriously contemplate giving him 2 birthday parties, because he is just so awesome and deserves it...

    1. Hi, Flee, For Axl's 13th birthday he had 13 meatballs, he shared a filet mignon steak with Ruff and for his 14th birthday he enjoyed the best meat loaf I ever made (I know because we all had some, too). So for his 15th birthday I am running out of ideas but since it doesn't get any better than a filet mignon steak I think we'll go for that.

    2. AAAhhh So how about Filet Mignon for his dinner and then peanut butter Ice-cream for dessert. Mix Peanut butter with cultured yogurt, and banana... Freeze overnight and voila, dog friendly ice cream, and I would think Human consumable too LOL

    3. Flee, that concoction would be better suited for one of those ice cream parlors that sell 96 flavors.
